I really love your blog. You make me cry. It's a mixed feeling, it's a long lost dream. You are such a thinker, and a wonderful observer. Some people can shoot, some people can write, and you can do both. Now I know why God doesn't grant me a digital SLR the past few years, HE has you doing His great work already. What you share is really inspiring.
I told my hubby don't worry about buying me a digital SLR (he knows i long to have one), i don't really have two hands to handle it these yrs, and the last 2-3 yrs i didn't even function well. Just maybe 3 wks ago, i shoot some dead leaves with my "flat" camera and planned to talk about it on my blog as our pastor inspired us something through dead leaves. And well, the photos are not even uploaded yet.....i saw you almost posting everyday with new pictures and something to say, it's just amazing!
Yea...i love photography, and writing as well. During school years, the most exciting thing is to have my father's SLR in my hands and wander on the streets...treasure hunting, hunting for beautiful angles, hunting for new surprising perspectives...i was just at a novice level, still am, nothing can compare to your works, but the process is wonderful...exploring the beauty, capturing the moments...hunting for the unusual among the usual...
Since having babies, it's just too expensive to buy and develop films, and digital ones were still very expensive at that time...and i trained myself to deny that "desire" to shoot....that "tickle", as if i didn't, only a long sigh will follow, and that ache...and i found it must be a luxury to have such a hobby...financial wise, time wise...
And your blog, excites me! And moves me.... And open my eyes that photos can actually be used to share our faith! And you have done it so well. The illustrations r so strong!
You look familiar to me, so i just assume you belong to CHEN. But now i wonder, are you CHEN members? Do you live in the area? Your property sure looks lovely =)
May GOd continue to bless you and your family! Keep up your good work!
the positive, or negative, response of a freely moving organism toward, or away from, light
How like us....to fly towards the Light of the World or to flee from it.
Reading to my little ones from A Child's First Library of Learning, Insect World, I thought how like the insects we are. Through the lens of time we seem so insignificant, flitting about with endless toil, and yet these creatures are commended in scripture. "Consider the ant you sluggard...."
from the childrens' book:
"Nocturnal insects are attracted to light, a response that is called phototaxis. Movement of the wings is influenced by the strength of the light. When the light reaches both eyes with equal intensity as from a distant source such as the moon, the insect can fly in a straight line with both wings moving the same way. But light coming from a closer source, such as a candle's flame, is perceived more strongly by one eye than the other. As a result of this, the wings on one side are stimulated to move faster, causing the insect to approach the light source in a spiral path and fly right into the light."
How like us...to not keep both eyes on our Light and to fly a spiral path instead of a straight path. How like us to be daily distracted by objects, ideals, pursuits that appear to be a more significant light source. Distractions that can prove to be lethal.
Follower, through grace alone, of the Light of this mortal world, into the eternal perfect world.
Pursuer of natural light as it plays on the beauty of this broken world
